When Pacey-rae was first born, everyone told me that "babies always cry for a reason," and soon enough I would "understand what every cry meant." They were right. I know what a hungry cry sounds like, I know what a tired cry sounds like, and I am very familiar with the sound of a "stop playing with my hair" cry sounds like. As a mom, I know it is my job to figure out exactly why my baby is crying, and to begin the mission of how to prevent the problem, or pacify the situation. But sometimes, folks, I don't have a hot clue.
The other day, we were having our typical afternoon play time and all of a sudden P-rae flipped a switch. So, I started to go through the mental list - couldn't be tired = just got up, not hungry = just ate, hair is clearly already done, and looking sweet. So what gives??? Here is my list of feasible options as to why this kid flipped a seemingly out of the blue switch on me ...
1. She was upset we had not looked at our favourite clothing websites that day.
2. She was shocked that mommy put down the beautiful purple fall sweat suit at Roots and walked away.
3. She was appalled that mommy would not buy her the Little People Happy House toy at Toys R Us.
4. Her laptop malfunctioned and she lost a document she just spent 3 hours working on.
5. She correctly guessed we were going to try out Green Beans for supper time.
6. She just can't get over the rescheduling of Peppa Pig and Charlie and Lola during her nap time. (the nerve)
7. She was missing Daddy.
