So Jason and I began the arduous task of selling our house at the beginning of summer. I say it is arduous because it is very difficult to keep a house spotless and ready to show in 10 minutes time with a one and a half year old and two dogs. Every morning I get up and dust, windex, wipe, mop, or sweep some mystery spot that was not there the day before.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I have tried very hard to feed Pacey-rae fresh and organic foods. She rarely has sweets that are not home made and typically eats tons of fruits and veggies for lunch. Sure, she has had pudding and jello and the odd cookie with Bampa, but we have never taken her to a restaurant to eat, let alone one with a drive through. Someone called to see the house and we had 30 minutes to spare. The kitchen was spotless and my daughter had an empty tummy. It was a moment I had to think on my feet. How do I keep my kitchen show worthy and feed my girl?
I could have played guess and check as she shook her head no and threw food on the floor for me to clean up, or I could plop her in her car seat and see how she made out with a happy meal. So ... I caved. I went the "easy" route. We got our first happy meal and rather than beat myself up for it - I have decided whole heartedly there is most definitely a time and place for a happy meal.
