A quick note to all family, friends, and special people in our lives ...
Thank you so much for being such an integral part of our life. Each of you has said and done things throughout this past year that have made the transition to parenthood smooth, easy, and just such a joy. You remind us of what is important in life. Things like how to bask in the small seemingly tedious moments that pass us by too quickly. You remind us to keep calm (and carry on???) and how to live each day with a smile on our faces and warmth in our hearts. This thanksgiving, our best wish for all our loved ones would be for your hearts to be full of love, your stomachs to be filled with delicious food, and your minds to be as relaxed and joyful as possible. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Happy Thanksgiving! With love and appreciation, The Westergard's
Once upon a time, on a very quiet street, in a very quiet house, there lived a very quiet monster. No one knew the monster lived in the very quiet house - that's just how unbelievably quiet she was! Her home was under the big bed. During the day, the big bed looked just like any bed. The monster stayed very still and very quiet when the Mommy and Daddy and baby in the house were up. She listened to them laugh, and talk on the phone. She heard all the baby's favourite toys and television shows. She wished that just once, she didn't have to be SO VERY quiet.
Every now and then, the monster got very bold. She would peek her head out from under the bed when she was absolutely certain no one would see her. She was incredibly careful and used her little claws to grip the carpet. She held her breath and pulled herself out just enough to see. Now, this was not the easiest task, because in this very quiet house, on this very quiet street, lived two very small but very loud little dogs. The little monster never wanted them to find her. Their barks were fierce and she hated to think what would happen if the dogs ever discovered even a lock of her bright blue fur.
The days passed, and seasons changed. The baby grew from an infant, and learned to laugh and smile. She started to clap and squeal. She ate new things - that the monster admits look less than appealing, especially since at first, the mommy was not heating them up. No wonder the baby disliked meal time. The monster whispered in the mommy's ear every night "heat up the food, heat up the food." Ih all honesty, the monster wondered if the mommy would ever catch what she was throwing.
Every night, the little monster would crawl out and play with the baby's toys, wear the mommy's make up, and goof around on the daddy's iPad. She ate leftover chicken, and drank lemonade. Sometimes she sat and watched the little family sleeping, wondering what it was like to belong. As the sun began to stretch her warm arms over the world, and night slipped away unnoticed, the little monster would sigh and tuck away under the bed.
One afternoon, the house sounded very quiet. The little monster decided to come out and explore. She was tired of being under the bed. It was so boring. She didn't just want to peek out. She didn't want to just crawl slowly. She wanted to run out and jump on the bed. Her mind was made up. She was ready to explore in the light of the day. All those toys, all that food, all those apps to download - she started to wiggle with excitement.
At first, the little monster tried to climb up on the bed, but she just couldn't get a good grip. So she decided to sharpen her claws. It was no use - the claws tore right through the sheets and she fell to the carpet. Poor monster! Would she ever figure it out? The little monster thought and thought. Then she thought some more. She took a break from thinking and wondered for a while. She wondered, wondered and wondered. All of a sudden she found herself very exhausted. The little monster found a cozy little corner and fell asleep.
When she woke up, she heard a really strange sound. It sounded like a chain saw at first, then it rolled into a thunderish kind of sound. Nope, actually it was like a buzz saw. Well, actually it was more of a growl, but a little bit also like a zamboni starting up. She listened with absolute confusion and completely and utterly intrigued. What could it be? Where was it coming from? The little monster carefully walked towards the sound. It was coming from that big comfy bed.
She tipped and she toed, then she toed and she tipped. Soon enough, she found herself staring at a very strange sight. She shook her head to clear her brains out, and looked again. That horrific, utterly annoying buzz saw, freight train sound, was coming right from the daddy! He was curled up in the bed in the middle of the day! Wasn't he supposed to be at work???? The little monster decided to quickly disappear under the bed again. She zoomed under and tried to fall asleep. But for the love of bologna sandwiches, she just could not sleep with that racket up above.
The little monster tossed and turned. She kicked the bed. The longer she stayed awake, the louder the daddy sounded! The little monster began to lose her mind. She started humming but couldn't drown it out. She bit her claws down to a dull rounded edge. She paced back and forth under the bed and then she silently screamed ... "I JUST CAN"T TAKE IT!!!"
The little monster wasted no time at all getting out from under the bed. Despite her earlier troubles, she had no difficulty taking a running leap and landing right on the bed! She couldn't believe her luck! The bed rumbled, each time the daddy took a deep breath in. It shook when he let it out.
The little monster knew she had to act fast before windows broke and photos fell off the wall. She made short work of climbing towards the daddy. He took a deep breath in and she held tight to the bed covers so she didn't fall off. When the tremor ended, she leaned up close and whispered right in the daddy's ear "Stop Snoring!' The daddy didn't budge. The monster took a deep breath, put on her serious face, and said a little louder, with a little more authority, "Stop Snoring at once!" The daddy just smiled in his sleep. The little monster shook her head and put on her ferocious face. She bared her fangs and roared, "THIS SNORING HAS GOT TO STOP!"
The daddy woke up and found himself staring right in the face of a ferocious fired up face of a little monster! He screamed once...he screamed twice...he screamed one more time. The monster thought it was hilarious and she started to giggle. As she giggled, the daddy noticed how sweet and adorable she was. He decided that a little monster was just what his family needed. He asked the little monster if she would stay and be their little Westermonster forever and ever. The little monster smiled and said, "I thought you would never asked." They lived happily forever and ever after.
